Job Description

The role

As an Emergency Medical Call Taker, you will be responsible for receiving 111 emergency calls, managing the caller, and gaining and inputting critical information into the system to allow effective dispatching to occur.

This role is key to Wellington Free Ambulance and will work closely with the community as an essential part of the service Wellington Free Ambulance provides.

You will ensure all calls are answered in compliance with strict time and accuracy standards while being courteous and meeting customer service standards – having great customer service is key to this role.

The training period is full time for approximately 12 weeks over the Summer with the flexibility to go down to part time hours after this period of time.

Make no mistake, this is a demanding role in a fast-paced environment. You will need to ensure you are someone who can remain calm under pressure and is able to multi-task effectively.

Who we are looking for

We are currently looking for multiple Emergency Medical Call Takers.

Emergency Medical Call Takers contribute to saving lives in the community on a day-to-day basis – your passion for the community and for helping people will be well received in our close-knit and supportive team.

We are looking for people with the ability to gain insights into customers’ needs with ease, who can relate well to others from all different backgrounds, and who can display confidence under pressure. You will genuinely care about the outcomes for your customers, and you will adapt your approach and style according to your audience. It is important for our staff to have a drive to keep improving and learning, and that they are able make quick judgements in often complex situations.
