Wellington Free Ambulance provides lifesaving, 24/7 paramedic services across Greater Wellington and Wairarapa, responding to over 54,000 emergencies annually. Supported by dedicated crews and community-based care, WFA ensures free, high-quality healthcare access for all. With funding streams from service contracts and fundraising, WFA’s essential, compassionate service remains entirely free.
Reporting to the Board Chair, as Chief Executive you will lead WFA, with a focus on the organisation’s Strategy: Kia ora te Tangata 2030. Leading a 500 strong team, success will come from strong models of care, a capable workforce, and equitable access supported by robust finance, infrastructure, and systems that ensure long-term sustainability.
This critical leadership role demands a disciplined approach to execution, coupled with your exceptional stakeholder engagement and people-centric leadership. Your focus will be on keeping strategy aligned, driving delivery of priority programmes, and maintaining sustainable funding.
Desired Skills and Experience
As an experienced senior leader, your proven ability to deliver results in complex infrastructure and operational environments will be essential. Commercially astute and highly regarded for your ability to foster strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, you’ll bring a nuanced understanding of decision-making in commercial, government, and not-for-profit settings. An empowering and authentic leader your dynamic approach will serve and support WFA’s critical service in the Wellington region.
