Our Event Medics play a vital role in our community, supporting a wide range of events across Greater Wellington and Wairarapa — from major sports and concerts to local fairs — and assisting frontline crews during emergencies.
We’re now recruiting Event Medics for Wellington-based events, starting 13 September. In this role, you’ll provide high-quality pre-hospital emergency care, follow clinical and operational procedures, and complete accurate documentation.
It’s a big responsibility, but we’ll provide the training and support you need to become a confident First Responder. If you’re passionate about helping others and keen to learn, we’d love to have you on board.
Who we are looking for
The successful candidates will be able to remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions in a timely manner, and relate well to all kinds of people. They will also work well in groups and display strong leadership qualities.
Successful applicants must meet the criteria below and be able to commit to the following:
- Have a current First Aid certificate using unit standard 6400 and the following sets, 6401 and 6402, or 26551 and 26552 OR have completed the 1st year of your BHSc in Paramedicine – please note that this is essential and is a requirement that you meet one of these 2 criteria for the role. We cannot process your application if you do not meet these criteria.
- Be available for training (training will be on evenings and weekends) and the Assessment Evening – these dates are also non-negotiable as they align with the training standards for you to complete the course:
- Compulsory Training Dates for successful candidates are as follows:
September 13th 14th or October 4th and 5th
And
October 18th 19th
November 1st 2nd
Driving assessment dates to be arranged
- Be physically fit for lifting and capable of meeting the demands of the role
- Have excellent communications skills and be able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds
- Please note that you can apply for this role without a Drivers License, however if you would like to become an Event Medic with driving as a component of your role you must have held a full driver’s License for minimum of 2 years and hold a Defensive Driving Certificate received within the last 3 years.
To join our team, you’ll need to commit to a minimum of 3 events per any 3 - month rolling period and 16 hours of training over a two-year period. We know this is a big ask especially if you're working or studying — so please make sure you're ready for the commitment before applying. There's a lot to learn, and we want to ensure you're set up for success from the start.
The recruitment process includes a mandatory Information Session, behavioral interview, and reference checks.
