Wellington Free Ambulance has been described as having a boutique feel due to the specific region we serve.  Our region covers an area from Cook Strait in the south to just north of Waikanae around Peka Peka on the Kāpiti Coast. In the Wairarapa, our area goes as far north as Mt Bruce. In total, around 500,000 people call our region home. Wellington Free Ambulance is seeking a Senior Project Manager (Property) to lead the delivery of critical infrastructure projects that support our people and the communities we serve. This is your opportunity to be part of a passionate team and play a key role in creating modern, fit-for-purpose facilities that help us provide the best possible emergency care.

Job Description

About the Role

As the Senior Project Manager (Property), you will be responsible for leading the planning, development, and execution of a wide range of infrastructure and property projects. You will drive enhancements that enable Wellington Free Ambulance to operate more efficiently, resiliently, and sustainably into the future.

This is a pivotal role where you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and project delivery expertise across key infrastructure initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to co-design solutions that enhance performance and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Oversee change initiatives aligned with our Kia Ora te Tangata – Strategy 2030, ensuring your projects support broader organisational goals.

You will be managing a diverse and evolving portfolio, from station upgrades to large-scale repairs, ensuring our facilities continue to meet the demands of our growing and increasingly complex operations.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you will bring

We are after a seasoned project management professional who thrives on seeing projects through from concept to completion and enjoys solving complex problems in a collaborative environment.

You will bring:

  • Project Management Certification – PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure or property-related project management or change management.
  • A strong track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Excellent skills in developing detailed project plans, work schedules, budgets, progress tracking, and reporting.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A high level of initiative, perseverance, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • A positive attitude and excellent organisational skills that help drive momentum and maintain quality throughout a project lifecycle.
