As well as providing emergency ambulance services, Wellington Free Ambulance also provides a Patient Transfer Service that transports patients to and from scheduled healthcare appointments, a Clinical Communications Centre answering 111 calls, and Event Medical support to a huge number of community, sporting and festival events. Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Employment Relations Advisor to join our People & Capability team and play a key role in fostering positive, people-centred employment relations across Wellington Free Ambulance.
In this role, you will work closely with people leaders to provide expert advice, guidance and coaching on a wide range of employment and industrial relations matters. Working alongside the Principal Advisor, Leadership and Culture you will support early, proactive resolution of workplace issues, and empower leaders to create engaged, high-performing teams aligned with WFA’s strategic and cultural goals.
Specific tasks include:
Providing high-quality ER advice and coaching to leaders and P&C colleagues
Managing complex and sensitive employment case work with a focus on early resolution
Supporting and growing leadership capability through coaching and practical guidance
Contributing to organisational development by identifying leadership and cultural challenges and supporting system-level interventions
Ensuring consistent, people-centred employment relations practices are applied across the organisation
Supporting projects, policy development, training initiatives, and organisational reporting on ER issues

In addition, you will bring:
A degree or diploma in Human Resources or Law
At least 5 years' experience in an HR or Employment Relations advisory role
Strong working knowledge of New Zealand employment law
Demonstrated experience managing complex and sensitive ER cases
