We are currently recruiting for Supervised Paramedics (EMT level) and experienced Paramedics who hold a Paramedicine degree to join our frontline teams across the Greater Wellington and Wairarapa regions.
Our crews operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, delivering timely, high-quality emergency care to the communities of Wellington and Wairarapa. As part of our team, you will play a vital role in responding to emergencies with professionalism, compassion, and clinical excellence.
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering the highest standard of patient care in an efficient, effective, and professional manner. Working within your scope of practice as a Supervised Paramedic (EMT level) or a Paramedic, you will demonstrate clinical competence, sound judgement, and professionalism in every interaction, while developing your leadership capability under appropriate clinical oversight.

- Are eligible for, or hold, current Authority to Practice as an EMT or Paramedic

- Acknowledging the impacts of shift work, WFA is committed to offering a variety of shift patterns suited to differing needs and ensuring welfare of staff. This includes a ‘Day Vehicle’ option where shifts are between 8:30 – 16:30, Monday to Sundays (hours capped at 32 per week).

- Our service operations cover 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a Paramedic the normal rostered cycle is four consecutive shifts on (two-day shifts, followed by two night shifts), followed by four consecutive shifts off. This means you are rostered to work an average of 42 hours per seven days, or 48 hours per eight days.

Because this role is classified as ‘safety sensitive,’ a Pre-employment Health Check, including a Drug and Alcohol test, is required. This test screens for various substances, including prescription medications.
The five drug classes that fall under the AS/NZS-4308:2008 banner for workplace drug testing are as follows:
- Amphetamine-type substances
- Benzodiazepines
- Cannabis Metabolites
- Cocaine metabolites
- Opiates
If your health check results are abnormal or your drug test returns a non-negative result, you may be required to provide further information and/or medical clearance.
